YUV component is not really better than RGB as they are very similar to each other. YUV is better on a DVD player as it is the format that the video is created on the disk and if the player is progressive compatable then YUV is the only way to output the progressive signal.
I doubt that you would see any benefit by outputting RGBs over scart and then converting to YUV component to be fed into a screen. You can't improve a signal just with conversion.If your DVD player does not have a component output then you are best just connecting it to the screen via RGB scart.
The only exception to the above is that on some screen the RGB input is not very good so a converted signal to YUV may give a better picture. If this is the case then the best converter to go for is one from www.js-technology.com as they do give an excellent picture, but they are not cheap.
