I may be peeing in the wind here but it's always worth asking: is there anyway on god's green earth that I can get hold of one of these? GAME don't appear to do them anymore and a search on Ebay has proved fruitless. I know the Cube is all-but dead now (the lease of life given it by Resi 4 seemed short lived) so it's hard to get hold of any hardware for it but I've only just upgraded my system and now want an RGB picture to go with my 5.1 sound so I can enjoy the likes of Rogue Squadron to the max.

Pantera, thanks for the link but they don't appear to have the RGB with the audio leads. Or is it the AV-S Video cable I should be looking at?

Fatbob, thanks for the offer but no. I'd have to then buy two separate audio cables wouldn't I? Had I been looking for one when they were widely available, I'd be paying a tenner for the whole deal. And it would be new, too.

From what i gather from reading the description, that one only works as a composite cable on the gamecube, same as the one that comes with the machine. Of course i *may* be mistaken...

Or you *may* be trying to get me to buy your overpriced, used cable!

There's a SCART lead; why do you think it only works as a composite?

I am shocked and hurt that you would think such a thing! :p Its the line at the bottom of the description that makes me wonder as it says 'Only AV compatible on Gamecube'. Depends what it means by AV although it mentions theres a switch to change between rgb and av if its connected to a ps2 so im assuming theyre saying 'av' is not rgb...

I know that the s-video connector on the cable doesnt work with the gamecube as a customer review of the universal cable linked to at the top of the description says so. So it wouldnt surprise me if the rgb scart on this cable didnt work with the cube. But like i say, i might be completely wrong! :smashin:

TBH I meant thats type of cable he needs, rather than the multi-console cable, not necessarily that exact one. For 2 quid, I'm sure you get exactly what you paid for, but the official cables are quite hard to come by now.

I must say that the RGB output on the 'cube is the worst of the consoles I own. Even with the official cable the image is better than composite, but its not amazingly better, especially on a large plasma.

If you've got component on your set you should get the GC Component cable! Very pricey for cable but it can project upto 480p on compatable games.

Not looking to spend much, so the component cable would be out of the question I'm afraid.

That one you provided a link for, The Weird, how do I connect that to my amp? Are audio cables easy to come by?

Thanks muchly for that; I'll post an email to the seller now, see if it's what I'm after (gotta get some more life out of this dying console one way or the other; I'm barely into Wind Waker, XIII and the sublime Killer 7 and I'm on the third replay of Resi IV (that game's just too good) and it would be nice to finish them off with some decent sound).

You would just use normal red and white phono cables, the same as you would use to connect a cd player or other audio source to the amp, these needn't be expensive, a couple of quid for the cheapest, or as much as you want to pay. As far as I can tell you will still need one of these cables even for the 'Ultimate Scart cable' (which does look pretty good BTW).

This sort of thing (okay so its red and black, but I'm sure you get the idea):

I do like the look of that ultimate SCART lead. It was on Ebay (or one like it) about a week agao. Not there now, though.

Right then, that's what I'll get, and a couple of audio leads too.

Oooh, mid-monthly indulgences, the missus won't be pleased!

I've got one and it's rubbish. Trust me. Full of crosstalk.

The one on Ebay is gone as I bought it.

Stick to the Ultimate Scart lead and you won't go wrong.

You don't need these leads for the Ultimate Scart lead as it has them attched to the scart end. The audio leads are about 6 feet long.

Hang on a minute, the ultimate SCART lead is crap but that's the one I need to get? I'll need to buy the separate audio leads if I get it but then again, no I won't?

Why are you clapping your hands (it's unseemly to be smug, by the way, Raquel) if you bought a lead you declare to be crap?

    Am I missing something here?

You're both feeding me a mess of contradictions, or so it seems. I appreciate help, don't get me wrong, but a little consistency would be equally helpful.

Yeah there is some confusion here.

The £2 one, mentioned in #10 is rubbish.

The Ultimate Scart lead is good.
The Utimate scart lead does not need audio leads as it has them attached.

    Confusion over?

The one you posted a link to on Amazon that costs £7.98, Raquel doesn't have audio leads, it has jacks for them to connect to. Is this the crap one?

Anotherlimey, I didn't find one I'm afraid. I scoured the length and breadth of town on Saturday with my two year-old daughter in tow (she has the patience of a saint!) and the best I was offered was a composite cable from Gamezone (the lad was really helpful and everything but I alrerady have a composite cable).

Are you serious about sending me one for nowt? If so, I'm eternally grateful and I'll PM you my postal address.

Ok mate, Just phoned the misses and asked her to borrow (cough) a jiffy bag from work, So should be in the post tomorrow and with you for Friday/Sat

Ive been after a better cable myself for a while now and have ordered a Component cable from Lik-sang, The cable ill send you i picked up in a local side street games store on Sunday, As it was only 4.99 i thought id give it a try to see if it made the PQ better on my Samsung LCD as the normal Cube cable supplied gave a dreadful fuzzy picture, I must say the RGB cable made the picture alot more sharper and also gave me the option to route the sound to my 5.1, It doesnt give you true 5.1 but Mario cart and alike sounded great through the speakers :smashin:

Ill pop the old set of wires i used to conect it to my amp too although they are not very long so if your amp is far from your cube you may need to buy a set (Very chaep i would imagine)

Anyway.... Its only a cheap lead but its better than the standard lead that came with your cube, Give them a go and see what you think :)

Then it is not a true Blaze Ultimate Scart.
That's why I said to ask the seller first as I got stung on Amazon before.
I ordered the Blaze lead and received what is linked to in post #10.
In fact it could possibly be the same seller that sold me mine still trying to pull a fast one.

This is what it should look like:

    http://www.superufo.com/product_html/GameCube_GameCube_Ultimate_Scart_Cable_with_cable_winder.html#a_2

or here to see the Phono audio plugs.

I did email them to be sure, taking your advice, but to date have recieved no reply. I guess that says it all really.

I will take advantage of Anotherlimey's generous gesture, see how that improves my gaming experience.

One alternative mentioned before was to use the existing SCART and have separate aduio leads routed from the tv to the amp. Will this work though, with the SCART connected to the EXT 2 socket and the AV leads in the EXT 3? It worked when I had a pro logic stereo routed to one SCART socket and the Cube routed to the other, on my old CRT tv; would it work again with the LCD?

I did this once and the sound was so low in comparison to a direct amp connection from the GC.
Also the scart that comes with the GC isn't RGB.

When you get your lead the tester is a game with reds in.
    I use Metroid Prime.
