Just wondering but do these two connections give the same quality? I always thought component was best but I'm just about to change my DVD to one that only has RGB Scart etc (no component).

Want to check cos when i get a Panny 6 I'll go for the relevant connector board.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but found this section to be really handy.

All things being equal RGB and component ( yuv) areidentical quality wise. The vagaries of TV manufacturing being what they are you may find one looks better than the other.

The advice I received from my plasma supplier was to put the output of my DVD player thru a RGB2VGA (or RGB2YUV) convertor and feed that into the VGA slot on the panny 6, rather than using the RGB SCART board available for the panny 6.

    Cheers,
    Liam

I'm not sure but I believe the Scart input has been reported to be a bit soft but has autoswitching. You can't have it all it seems!

Bearing in mind the cost of the converter and cables, you'd have to get the best, you might be better off to buy a new DVD, with progressive scan component. Many affordable models now.
