Take it back! And why on earth did you buy a 220E when you have a Sony 305 and ur Philips recorder? (They give pretty much the same performance).

Its not your Tosh my friend. Both Philips and JVC suffer from dark RGB (not all models). The contrast is set and cannot be changed using the menu in many cases. To check try Svideo.

    Check out the TV forum.

    thanks for your replys,

first of all the tosh was the first of my three dvd players. i only got the phillips advd recorder afew weeks ago because my sister laid claim to my video.

On my Hitachi rear projection there is no noticeable difference in contrast between composite and rgb. s-video is black and white. On the phillips tv in my bed room the tosh when the output is set to rgb ,the screen is significantly darker. both the other dvd players are fine.

By the way the philips is exemplary with ntsc material but softer with pal?

Try a console if you have one, the philips do have dark rgb. One thing to note is if you use a philips dvd player, its reported as having perfect contrast with a philips TV.

Try a search for dark rgb, you should find all your answers.
