In order for RGB scart connection to work properly does your player have to have RGB scart output? Also can the scart lead be a standard scart (good quality) or does it have to be an 'RGB Scart'?

As long as the SCART cable is fully wired it will do anything...

But my player apparently has to output RGB, just having a TV that has an RGB scart socket isn't enough.

well i was answering your second question then :p

if the SCART is *just* RGB you need to use a device with a RGB SCART out. thou i have heard that non RGB SCART has worked thou, its a case of trying it...

There should be a menu item to allow you to specify the output. You should find it in the setup menu.

On mine there is a choice of RGB, S-Video or Composite. You shoul also be able to specify the type of TV you have in the same setup menu, ie: 16:9 or 4:3.

Have you got a manual with it?

I'm sure I have the manual somewhere. I'll have a look tonight. Thanks for your help. Just been out and got hold of an s-video and audo leads from Richaer Sounds, if it's no different they'll just give me my money back. Got caught in the rain and they gave me a brolly - there's customer service for you.

What kind of player do you have, and are you sure it outputs RGB?

If you're going on info from Richer Sounds, well... they're always sure, but hardly ever right (in my experience of course).

It doesn't have RGB output - it is the Pioneer DV 340 I bought a year ago, they may have updated the recent ones. I bought an s-video lead in the end and the picture is superb, very sharp.
