Without being rude, I think your last sentence tells you everything you need to know.

The beginning of oled tv's for less than £1k.
Let's see who else we get.

Probably an older panel from the 2015 range I would have thought.

It's hot off the press. Hopefully we will see reviews shortly. If it's any good, it's going to rock the TV market for sure. But don't hold your breath!

All oleds tv's have LG panels, it's not just about the panels though, it's how they're driven, most of the cheap brand tv's from tesco etc had Samsung panels in them I beleive, didn't make them good tv's though, me personally i would rather pay a few hundred more for an lg b7/c7, the tv linked only has hdr10, where as the LG has hdr10, dolby vision, hlg and technicolour hdr so alot more future proof , and also have a larger user base for finding out issues, recommended settings etc

I highly doubt they would be using a 2015 panel, chances are they are 2016/2017 panels that have been returned/repaired.
Expect true blacks and good color but android OS is trash and I'm sure video processing will be as well.

      Hi ryanvincent.

I think you have hit that on the nail .
Coming from a Android Sony TV my self and a very bad cutomer experience as well stay clear it's not worth it .

If that TV is powered by mediatek chipsets CPU is what Sony are using you are asking for serious trouble ! .They are badly under powered CPUS and Sony still have plenty of issues with Android stability .

I had a SONY Android 2015 TV was the worst purchase I made in my 37 years so far .

I own a LG SJ model now and very happy bunny indeed .

You will not get close to LG Webos performance with an Android OS.

I own a Android mobile and been an android fan for years and still are also iv owned many great Sony products in the past . However Sony are not what they used to be compared to around 15 years ago it so .

Be very intresting to see how this performs with What Hi-Fi reviewed or our famous HDTV man him self in depth review .

I have a funny feeling this TV could prove to be a winner maybe we could all be surprised who knows ???

Which tells you nothing. Most are going to spend the extra 400 odd for a known brand like LG. This will be a big hit with Brighthouse brigade though.....

If you were to glide through the user comments on the troubles they're having with known brand costlier sets, then it could make someone think it wasn't such a gamble to buy an electriQ. Or that any 'foibles' were more acceptable at the price point. And bang on a media box and they'd have aps, HD/4K input - assuming the HDMI's up to it - plus considering some in built aps are dubious of late may be not a bad idea anyway.

People generally only complain about a product on the internet (accept us 'internet' types), so 10 people complaining about issues still means many of thousands are happy with their purchase.

Apart from many people don't see it that way - it's online and people own the set so it must be true/general.

Interesting - not a lot of companies registered at the address quoted on the Electriq website (DE55 2FX). It also appears from a whois lookup that the website is owned by a company called VJ Global Ltd. Looking at their company data from Companies House, there is nothing and they are pretty much a dormant company.

Think I'd hold off ordering from this mob for a while!

Android TV's are not the best; however they have come a long way since previous Sony models ive used in the past.

I find the OS on the philips actually quite good, albeit does hang every now and again. still not on par with webOS by any means but wouldn't be a deal breaker for me like it once was.

The biggest concern for me is it's processing capabilities and lack of HDR formats. It may be a cheap OLED but £1000 is still a lot of money for a TV.

Sod that ! I'll rather save for it even if that means 4-6 months .That way it's yours you own it and no waste of intrest.

Seriously just not worth wasting your money doing an OLED on HP these days .

It is only ever worth it if you can get interest free and pay it off before the end of the period. The kind of person that shops at Bright house probably doesn't even consider the overall cost, they just get sucked in by the idea of "owning" a great big, 4K TV, which ironically looks like sh*t because they don't set it up correctly. Sad really, as they could pick up a perfectly decent used TV for a few hundred quid and live within their means.

I'm not even sure this TV is Android TV OS, looking at the pictures and blurb. It reads (between the lines) like it's a mobile version with a remote friendly launcher. In which case, it's not going to be a great Smart TV platform, especially when it comes to HD/UHD streaming apps and the lack thereof.

Is the Android bit only a problem if you're using the smart TV features, or does it affect picture quality?

If it's the former, and 'poor smart TV' is the only problem, then this + an Amazon Fire TV Stick looks a bargain.

I have come to the conclusion that one should buy a tv only for its display, and not for its sound or smart tv attributes. My reasoning is as follows.
For sound, even the cheapest of the home cinema boxes will outperform the in tv screen speakers , and probably come with a dvd or blu ray player to boot.
For smarts.. get a streamer , whatever model you like, kodi, android , apple pc with hdmi card.. why? because the technology keeps changing , and the bulk of the cost is in the screen.
I have an old 2008 sony w4500 40 inch and the colour is super and its 10 years old. A 100 euro streamer or the 40 euro now box with t2 tuner keeps it up to date. My 2014 LG 49inch" smart " 3D, has a processor so slooow its infuriating.and only a very limited number of applications available.
