for the first time in its 30 year exsistence SW will not carry a PG rating. a PG-13 rating will be given. Lucas says "i wouldnt take my 5 yr old to watch it" & " we see ani make a pact with the devil"

    linkage http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8705

dosnt seem to bother me in fact its better as children could potentially spoil this historic end to a legendary Series :D

The difference between PG and PG 13 is hardly worth mentioning. Now if George Lucas had said revenge of the Sith is going to be R rated, now that would be something! Anyway you can guarantee that it's going to be a soft PG 13 and I doubt there would be much in it you wouldn't take a young child to watch... Knowing Lucas there's nothing extreme in it.

I’m not deriding it before it is out but I have to say I though Ep I & II were a load of corn. Ep II was better and had a few standout moments but overall thought it was very average. I’m not expecting Ep III to be anything more than a good popcorn movie!

Firstly let's get things into perspective. 9/11 - history. The Kennedy shooting - history. Man walking on the moon - history.

Latest installment of extremely tepid sci-fi series receiving a higher than normal certificate - not history.

There's no reason why, after the dreadful Episodes 1 & 2, Lucas should be given the benefit of the doubt because of a PG-13. A more restrictive rating does not neccessarily mean better. Doesn't mean to say we won't get another crap movie - just slightly darker crap.

Interesting that Lucas' defence of Episode 1 and 2 being so awful was to state that these are not movies made for adults, but for children. Indeed from the first "Star Wars" movie he has always maintained that these are children's films.

So now at the very last installment, the kiddies - his audience - are restricted from seeing the movie.

    Nice.

I wouldn't worry about the kids as it will probably turn out to be a 12 a certificate meaning that a five or six year-old could watch it anyway

I was really disappointed (on initial viewing) with both Episodes 1 & 2. But thought they improved with repeat viewing.

The real problem I felt after some reflection was that Star Wars was so new, so different and so awe inspiring as a child that nothing was ever going to live up to the excitement of those early movies. I'd never seen anything like the opening sequence in Star Wars with the Star Destroyer.

But now after Terminator 2, Lord of the Rings Trilogy etc etc, there's pretty nothing that is ever going to compare to that moment as a child. So I'm ready to be disappointed with Episode 3, but with an open mind!

For me it was the other way around, I enjoyed them more at the movies and then less so after repeated viewings! :)

Are you referring to the original Trilogy? or all the films including the prequels as Episode 2 is PG, would have been 12 if they had left the headbutt scene in.

Sounds to me that GL is just trying to drum up some interest. The first two movies were poor, very poor. EpII was better than EpI but still poor. Hayden (Anakin) can't act to save his life, and the best character so far was killed off and was rarely used (Darth Maul).

EpIII will be fast paced, well, it has to be, there is still soooo much to show, Anakins turning, Vaders creation, the birth of Luke and Leia, the fight between Obi Wan and Anakin, the annihalation of the Jedi, the realisation that Palpatine is Darth Sidious, sooo many things to cover and not enough time. The script is going to be rushed through.

What should have happened was the Clone Wars should have started in the first movie, the first half of that should have been the discovery of Anakin, and then fast forward to the future to where Anakin is in EpII.....oh, and get a better scriptwriter for the dialogue.......oh, and shoot the creator of Jar Jar Binks (I swear, if Jar Jar Binks snuffs it in EpIII I will be there with a trumpet and drums and dancing the fecking jig!!!), and why the hell can't anyone remember C3PO and R2D2 in the original trilogy??!?? Sorry, rant mode kicked in there.

Anyways, here's hoping that EpIII is a decent film........although I'm not expecting it to be. :(

    Isn't it obvious? They're ROBOTS !

    ie. Mass produced machines.

It stands to reason that there would be thousands of blue/white R2 units and thousands of gold protocol droids out there. Just like there are thousands of silver Ford Mondeos and Vauxall Vectras.

Trying to remember a droid you last saw twenty odd years ago (and that's had it's memory wiped) is going to be like picking out the Mk1 Escort your dad used to own when you were a kid with the number plates missing.

And it will especially difficult if you've spent these twenty odd years either a)sat in the desert or b)being the most evil person in the galaxy.

    QED.

Having read the script, this film is very dark and has some bits which are probably unsuitable for little kids.
