As mentioned in last post here:

    http://www.avforums.com/frame.html?...ms/showthread.php?t=154292&highlight=beginner

Has anyone returned a Jap PSP to Sony uk for an exchange due to dead pixels? In another thread someone posted that you have 1 year warranty regardless of where it was purchased. Is this corrct?

Does anyone know the number to call Sony on if you want to arrange a replacement PSP and if you have done so yourself (Jap or UK) the name of anyone particularly helpful at the other end of the line. Before you say look in my manual for it, it is in Japanese.

Would it now be likely they would send you a 2.01 firmware version as replacement?

    Cheers!

I doubt they'll send you a replacement at all. The serial number, which you will no doubt be asked for, makes it fairly obvious which region it came for.

I wouldn't recommend it but as I've posted elswhere on the forum.

    1. The number you need is in the back of most psp game manuals

    2. Navigate the menus of Sony's phone system

    3. When your through tell them there is a problem, but give a serial number from a friends PSP.

    4. A Courier will come to swap your psp (this courier is likely some retard who works for Citylink\whatever)

    5. Done

SONY WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY FOR A JAP PSP

So did I, but I still picked PSP-1003 instead of PSP-1000 so I still lied. I'm sure their returns system is a better breed.

ok, forget trying to fool sony, what about this world wide warrenty? what are the terms and conditions of this? the psp is being sold as a portable regionless games console, so the warrenty should theoretically not matter which part of this global company's terretory you are in? hmmm

Since Sony were trying to stop people importing it, I doubt there's a worldwide warranty. Best you can do is just ship it back to Sony Japan.
