I was taping it to keep till they bring the DVD’s out even thought I have the originals ones I bought in the full 2.35:1 aspect ratio. I though soon as I started the tape I hope Frank Skinner is not on tonight. It is bad enough to talk over the titles but as you say take the michael out of it shows nether ITV or Skinner has any respect for the viewers. The place for this banter was in his show. How would he like it if someone came and talked over the end of his credits and did the same to him?

I'm not taping it either but this now happens on most channels because they want to ruin it for people taping it. Their pathetic excuse is, "We want to show you which channel your on and what's on next". WAKE UP, *%$$^# Tv channels! WE already know the flippin channel we are on because of all the damn logos everywhere and nearly everybody has access to Digiguide, papers, Tv guides and EPG's (when they damn well work ie., "Further schedule information is not available" - Sky), so we know what's on next.

As for Frank Skinner with his crap jokes, this sort of thing makes me hate the person doing it and refuse to watch their programmes. What a right plonker this guy is!

Talking about the end credits of ROTJ, on the original ending there was the ewoks singing, where had it gone?? That singing was done by St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood Herts! My old school!!

Was it the Special Edition? If so then there was a new ending.

It is stupid of the TV companies to take the mickey out of their own programs - I watch Babylon 5 on Bravo sometimes and they always take the mick out of during the end credits - don't they realise that the people watching are Babylon 5 fans?! That is WHY they are watching!!

Lex,

No it wasn't the special edition, I remember when I was in the 1st year at the school (1984), people saying about the choir doing ROTJ singing!

There is one channel that takes the mick when the are advertising a program, which is self defeating, like saying this program is a load of rubbish you would be a fool to watch it.
By the way ITV I have just turned good time Frankie off for his little stunt at the end of ROTJ.

I think FS was delibrately brought in to mess up(!) the endings on the trilogy, to prevent taping. I had half a mind (only half though) to phone the 1-800-THX number at the end and say ITV UK have butchered, defaced and resized the end of the film

I could not agree more with this statement as I too am a loyal fan to Babylon 5 and find it an insulting moronic action on their part. Another thing that really annoys me too (I've quoted this on another thread) is the sonic blasting we get when the flipping adverts come on too.

frank skinner really is a pathetic nob and about as interesting as dried vomit, it made me laugh when he brought out his autobiography last year and the paper's serialised it... I couldn't believe anyone was interested in that complete ******!

you maybe onto something regarding Lucas tho, I bet he would be ****ed off about talking over the credits... I'm sure it must be in the small print of his contract with ITV regarding the screening of the star wars films. And as we all know Lucas' lawyers take no prisoners.

Goodness me what a reaction - I thought he was quite funny but we're all entitled to our opinions of course. As to the point of view that "it spoiled the movie/ruins it for my kids/prevents taping" -
a) if you like it that much you always rent it/buy it on tape/dvd, and
b) adverts for cars/soap/catfood intergate quite nicely with the film then do they?

Anything inside the M25 counts as London these days.:D

Which makes 'my' actual home just 2 miles outside London.

It was not necessary for Frank Skinner to mock Return of the Jedi as the film makes a fool of itself quite adequately already.
Step outside and say that!!! :D

Awww Bri, I had you down as a man of good taste, especially with your Young Frankenstein quote thingy.;)

By the way, I got the DVD, thanks. I shall put it away for my daughter for xmas.

When I had the laserdiscs, I watched the 3 films one after the other at least once a month without fail. The 3 originals just take me back to a youth mispent in cheap flea pit cinemas. However, IMO, episode II is the pick of the 5 so far.

army bloke dons flame proof suit and retreats hastily to a nice quite corner in a galaxy far far away.

I never saw the broadcast last night so can't comment on the w**k Skinner episode - but I'd galdly take him outside just for daring to talk over the closing credits of a classic.
