Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Ultra HD Blu-ray Review & Comments

I can't remember at which stage I bailed on the Resident Evil series but Milla Jovovich has definitely been the best thing in it (I had the pleasure of meeting her and she was absolutely charming) and is also one of those actresses who is better than often credited and truly game. Check her out in Luc Besson's The Story of Joan of Arc. I mean, is that or is that not Olympic-level nostril flaring? With regard to how Resi developed, hands were tied and other constraints applied due to the rights situation and the number of people having input as a result. In financial terms it has been very successful so nobody is about to let it drop. Meanwhile Paul W.S. Anderson will be getting his teeth into a hoped-for Monster Hunter franchise.

Flix66 review says "is a very shiny, over processed (not a negative) film that looks exquisite on Blu-ray, and slightly better in 4K" Also goes on to say that its a "pristine" transfer. Just goes to show how people see things so differently. I have the 4K release on its way, so I hope that flix66 review is correct. Though I actually doubt it :(

I watched it last night and really enjoyed the presentation. Whilst it was by no means reference I didn't feel it was washed out, too dark nor notice any banding. I would have given it an 8 on picture. Film itself...hmmmmm :)

Just watched myself, Panasonic 902 tv & UB900 player, and must admit to me it did look very good in 4K UHD i give the P/Q an 8,no where as bad as the new Underworld movie.
Also as above not washed out or to dark, nor any problems with banding .
The Atmos track was great :)

A truly terrible film. Hard to believe how far this has sunk.

2/10 (2 for Milla)

As I expected, Flix66 went a little overboard. The PQ was disappointing, possibly because of the source itself which was shot in mainly underground dark situations. On the other hand, the AQ was reference quality and went a long way to making the movie more enjoyable. The editing was terrible. All of the action scenes were cut very quickly, and didn't give me time to see what was actually going on, apart from seeing a few body parts and blood everywhere.

Movie 5/10, Video 6/10, Audio 10/10. Just my humble opinion folks.
