Latest installment in the horror franchise arrives in both 2D and 3D versions

When the first Resident Evil film was released back in 2002, we never thought that there would be at least four sequels and certainly didn't think the series would become one of our guilty pleasures. And yet here we are, 10 years later, eagerly anticipating the latest installment. Say what you like about Paul W. S. Anderson, at least his film's are never boring and he knows how to use 3D effectively. Anyone how prefers the more old-school, in-your-face 3D should check out his previous two films - Resident Evil: Afterlife and The Three Musketeers. Plus the series' star, and Anderson's wife, Milla Jovovich looks pretty good in 3D too.

The plot of Resident Evil: Retribution, as always, involves the ubiquitous Umbrella Corporation and their deadly T-virus, which continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race's last and only hope, Alice (Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Full details of the extras have yet to be announced but will include:
  • Director and Cast Audio Commentary
  • Director and Producer Commentary
  • Drop (Un)Dead: The Creatures of Retribution
  • Outtakes
  • Deleted & Extended Scenes (in 3D on the Blu-ray 3D)
  • Six Featurettes
  • Project Alice: The Interactive Database

The 3D Blu-ray, 2D Blu-ray and DVD of Resident: Evil Retribution will be released in the UK on the 4th of February 2013 but, if like us, you can't wait until then, it comes out nearly two moths earlier in the US on the 21st of December.
