I bought an authentic windows MCE2005 (the full 3 disk version) operating system last year which was then installed on my PC and validated.

Since then the PC has broken and I've bought a new one, just wanted to know if I could sell my MCE2005 software or is it linked to my old machine and useless to anyone else.I just thought I could claw back a bit of the £80 i paid for it as I was only used for several months before the PC gave up the ghost.

All XP MCE disks are OEM, so technically it's tied to the PC it 'came with'. In reality Microsoft may allow someone to re-activate it on new hardware, especially if it is due to the failure of the original PC.

Whoever bought it would be taking the risk of Microsoft saying 'no'.
