    I have a Rel Q100 subwoofer
I've owned it from new for many a year (at a guess must be around 15 years)

It's survived numerous moves from room to room, various travels upstairs, periods of storage and noise moves

I know it's not cutting edge but it was one of the first proper pieces of home cinema I purchased

Anyway, today I notice it really was not sounding great and removed the grill to see the actual speaker appears to have perished

It just looks worn out and has torn / come away around the outside of the cone (the rubber / material bit around the edge)

So can I replace the speaker and this bit ?
I fancy a project and like to get it working again

What do I need to buy ?

Actually seems like this may be what I need

    REL Q100E Replacement

Before I order however can I buy anything better that may even improve the sub ?

You can't just put a random driver in a subwoofer. They are usually matched to the cabinet. I'd be very much inclined to replace it with the correct one otherwise you might well make things worse rather than better.
