Hi guys/gals, I want to replace my Sony with a similar all in one system.
Its for a medium sized livingroom (the 25W (I think?) satellites seem adequate on the system I have)

I like the Sony fine, I just really would like a digital optical in for the likes of the PS2/Xbox games that are 5.1 and Sky+ should I get it.

I read a good review of the Pioneer DCS-313 and having looked though some posts here I see it has had a very mixed reception. My budget is going to have to be less that or around £250 - so the Pioneer seems like a good deal, but some of the things I have read on here have put me off slightly.

Can anyone with experience of both sytems (or a similar year 2000 Sony) please let me know if it would be worth my while upgrading... I'd like to hear an Improvement as well as gain an optical input....

Other systems and links to specs/pics/reviews would be most welcome :)
    Thanks

If you're thinking about connecting a few different sources via optical (PS2, Xbox, Sky+) would you not be better with an amplifier with a number of these inputs?

Does anyone know if you can use the speakers from the DAVS-300 with a different amplifier to save you from buying new speakers?

 I wouldn't put yourself down too much.

It's always better to ask here first and then buy the right thing than to stupidly buy the wrong thing.
