Replacing my Sky+ box

Been looking to replace my ageing 40gb sky+ box for a new 160gb one. I've seen them on Ebay but was wondering if Sky themselves would sell me one, anyone had any experience on this, any thoughts please...

Hi,
I have been looking to do the same for a little while now.
Called sky today, spoke to there cancellations dept and told them I was thinking of stopping my sky subscription.

The long and short of it is they offered me Sky+ HD box for £49 and £20 fitting or new Sky + box for £49 free fitting.

Seems a better deal than those on ebay.

Might be worth a call.

I am sorry for stupid question.
I am new to Sky.
We have two Sky + and Room to room.
We have just moved in, and wondering if I put my existing card from normal Sky to one of those existing SKY +boxes will it simply work, or are the cards bound to hardware somehow?

Thanks...

No, you have to call sky and ask them to pair your card with the sky+ box and to activate the sky+ features. Simple, takes 5mins well if your not on hold for 30mins that is !

Because he's worried about his two Sky+ boxes, one regular Sky card, his AV sender and Netgear router; probably all of which belong to his landlord.

You mean 2hrs ;) I have just tried and swapped the cards, it seems to be working, but we will see :)

Stevenage Neil I am sorry for doing that, it is just that my question is such a palaver, that it is not worth starting new thread and therefore messing the forum ;)

Phoned Sky yesterday to report my Sky+ box not behaving, they are sending an engineer out tomorrow at a cost of £65 and with any luck I should have a brand new PVR3.

Will post tomorrow when the engineer leaves.

Engineer arrived today at 5.30pm and installed a new Amstrad PVR3, what a result. Apparently a new box from Sky would have cost £180 according to customer services.
