Replacing Kef HTB2SE with something more child friendly

I currently have a Kef HTB2SE that I got as part of the 3005SE package. It looks great but with the exposed driver and passive radiator it is seriously vulnerable to kids. Time for a boring box with downward or forward firing driver (with grill!).

As my set up is less than 12 months old I know that SWMBO will not let me spend much so I'm really looking for advice about what I could sell this for and then buy with the proceeds?

I've been looking at the BK range and they seem to be highly regarded and very good value - any idea what sub would be equivalent performance? I'm aware that the Kef sub isn't the best (actually though B&W 610 was better during auditions but no sensible given the pricing of the 3005 pack) so a slight upgrade in performance would be nice.

The sub will be sat on a suspended wooden floor (house has 50cm void under floors) - should I be concerned that a downward firing design will boom through the floor too much? The rest of the room has a large rug and two large windows with thick curtains.

I would suggest that as a replacement you go for an XLS200, probably down firing for extra child friendliness :)

Thanks. Any idea how the XLS 200 will compare the the Kef?

Any idea what a pristine HTM2SE might be worth (in desirable gloss black)? They retail for £500 but I'm struggling to find much evidence of them being sold second hand on the forums or elsewhere.
