After 18 months my Humex Foxst HDR died on me,

After three weeks and many and I do mean many emails to Humex, asking them for the details on the garantee, their 'real' adresse and a real phone number and not a 08xx which cannot be used from another country. I had purchased the unit directly from them.

As I live in France Humex will not pick up or ship the item so this is at my cost, that I knew and told them this at the beginng, to top it all they have just informed me that the item is also out of garuantee, as it is a Grade A item, three weeks to tell me that ?? and I'm still don't have their adresse or a phone number

So I am now at the stage of rather than sending it back with a £95 replacement fee and shipping to Humex and back to me should I just buy a new unit.

With such a lousy service from Humex I am wondering if I should buy a another item but from another company, as, £95 + two shippings will cost about £250, which is the price of a new item with a full garantee.

So any ideas, comparaison would more than nice, many thanks and sorry for the ranting, but I do hate companies that once the item is sold they are unaviable and do not respcet their clients

I sympathise with you on your HDR expiring after only 18 months...

...but Grade A Humax products only carry a 12 month guarantee.

For £150 you can buy another Grade A Foxsat HDR directly from Humax.

That would be a wiser buy instead of paying £95 plus shipping for repairs.

Alternatively, buy the latest Humax HDR-1000S/500GB for £249 directly from Humax.

    Humax direct address is:

    HUMAX DIRECT LTD
    The Mille Building,
    8th Floor,
    1000 Great West Road,
    Brentford,
    London,
    United Kingdom,

It surely doesn't cost that much to send a package to/from France???

If the OP takes the lid off and disconnects the hard disc, will the box boot up. At the same time have a look at the capacitors in the power supply, are there any with obvious bulges ?

Believe it, I am loathe to get anything sent to Ireland, it's always costly, and I would love a Grade A HDR as a second unit, but it's cheaper to just buy new from Argos across the border.
