Replacing a JVC lamp

Hi guys, this is the first time I am replacing a lamp and I was wondering if you take off the silver bit on top of the new projector lamp as it's not on the old one. I have attached an image of what I mean.

I don’t recall removing anything when I changed over my X7000 lamp last year.

Small pic on my phone, but that looks like what we used to call the "flapper" when I was at JVC. It's to redirect the air flow depending on whether the projector is mounted normally or upside-down on a ceiling mount. It's only on newer lamps, and should be left in place.

No, but you should throw that new lamp away and buy an original one instead.
