Replacement TV stand

Distinguished Member
Hello all. I'm looking at getting a new TV soon in glorious 55 inches. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the stands that come with them have the legs at the END of the unit rather than one large base in he middle.

I'm not sure I have a unit big enough for something like that. I have a large TV unit but it's currently in storage and don't have access to it for a few weeks to measure it.

What I want to know is if it's possible to buy alternative stands for standard TV's? Do they all have similar brackets at the back for such things? Do you have any examples that you have bought?

I think all TVs have their own stands which even between the same manufacturers might not be interchangeable. You can however but a stand which effectively wall mounts the TV onto the stand and as the wall mount points are almost universal most TVs can be mounted onto the stand.

I have nowhere that I can wall mount so when I replace my current TV that is exactly what I'm going to do.
