Replacement Speakers for Tannoy TFX 5.1

I’ve had these speakers for a few years. I’m pretty certain they are TFX as their are no markings on them. But whilst they are still ok I fancy a change.
but I guess in the budget mid price range of satellite speakers would it really make any difference in clarity and sound ? Am I wasting my time looking ?
They run off a Denon X2400

I was looking at Wharfedale DX2 or Cambridge Mini12 with X201 sub. Only issue with DX2 is the size of the subwoofer. It’s a tight fit in the Tannoy sub location as the DX2 sub is wider. I might have a solution to that however. The question is as a Netflix and Prime watcher with the odd BluRay am I going to notice an improvement ?

Thoughts?

Anyone ?

I’ve ruled out the Mass 5.1 speakers as the sub is way to big for where it’s going to go.

But question remains. Am I basically wasting my time for what may be a negligible improvement, if any ?

What is your budget? Keep the Tannoy sub if it´s placed in good spot, works great etc. There is no need to "match" sub and speakers. You can spend more for speakers this way and get better sub later on.
Few options to consider:

Dali Fazon, gloss black and white.

QA 7000i black, 33% off

B&W M1 black and white

Klipsch Reference Theatre 5.0

Thanks for replying

I guess up to and around £500. I do like the look of those Q Acoustics. Mind you I like all of those suggested. Good tip on the sub, I wondered about that and tha Tannoy works fine. Just seeking that mythical beast, an improvement on what I have. I’m guessing all of those will give me that

You want to do the upgrade in stages as good subwoofer from dedicated manufacturer will cost +300£. If you have issues with width then you could consider BK Double Gem later if 283mm fits there!

But yeah first the speakers and the decision is hard without listening. There is lot of feedback from each ranges if you google and of course you want good looking speakers aswell.

I agree. Speakers first for sure. I guess I need to visit my local Richer Sounds for some demos. Of course no substitute for my own lounge but it would be worth it I think.

I went for Q Acoustics 7000j 5.0

I’ll keep my Tannoy sub for now as it’s ok. Saw the Q speakers on eBay for £275 as good as new. Should get them in a couple of days. Very happy with the saving

Keep us posted how they sound compared to Tannoys! :)

From AVF review: Crossovers were found to work best at 120Hz all round, in line with Q Acoustics recommendations

Well they arrived today and were in pristine nick as described. They sound fantastic as well with a nice sound and superb clarity. The TFX 1’s are excellent and a good starter set but the Q’s are a far superior step up for sure

One thing that become obvious is how clear dialogue is. It was OK with the TFX but this is a different level. I have no hesitation in recommending the Tannoys, if they are still available, as a budget set they are really good. But I like a bit more of that clarity and everything from dialogue to depth in background music etc is just noticably sharper and with more depth with the Q Acoustics.

Very happy
