    Hey all,

I own a Toshiba 28ZD26 and the remote control has suddenly stopped working without warning. My technical knowledge with these sort of things goes as far as changing the batteries and hoping for the best... which usually works. Unfortunately on this occasion the change of batteries heralded no success.

I think I need a new remote control and was wondering if anyone on these fine forums might know where I could get one from?

Thanks in advance of any help,

    James :)

    Hi
You could try ebay, or a 3 in 1 remote from Asda. If it is a older TV it may not be worth buying a brand new tosh remote because they can be expensive. Just search online you should be able to get a new sililar remote for less than £15, search for remotecontrols.co.uk

    Try looking at:

    http://www.avukltd.com/

    as well as:

    http://www.remotecontrols.co.uk

You may get an idea that the remote is / is not working by trying the following: Find and turn on a small MW AM radio, and with the remote control on top of the radio, depress a button and the radio should suffer interference like: dub dub dub dub dub, or tick tick tick tick tick, or bzz bzz bzz bzz bzz............. All buttons should give the same sound, unless it is a programmable handset, with options for including other equipment.
If you do get the sounds, but the TV is not responding, either the infra-red transmitting sender has failed on the handset, or the remote receiving circuitry on the TV has failed.

Does the remote have a switch on the side to control a DVD player? If it has, check to switch is fully in the TV position.

If no joy, post the model number of the remote.
