Hi folks – I’ve struggled for years with my Yamada DVR-9000. This is an amazing mixture of good and bad. Mainly good – the user interface is so intuitive I’ve never opened the manual, and the picture quality via component wires (upscaling, progressive) is really pretty good.

On the bad side, it crashes (locks up like a computer), behaves strangely sometimes, and the burner failed when 1 week out of warranty. Yamada don’t do customer service, returns, repairs or anything else – it’s but and hope with them, I’m afraid.

I really need to be able to burn recordings to DVD (or even a USB stick or something) – anybody recommend a cheapish replacement? I need:

DVD burner
Hard disk
Upscaling
Progressive scan option
Component output
Freeview tuner would be nice…

Thanks for any suggestions!
Roger
