I currently have a Pioneer 626, about 4 years old, chipped by LinkOnline. It's been excellent and plays everything I throw at it but now I feel it's time for a change, especially since I now have a nice shiny new DLP projector to pump it through.

So can anyone recommend a DVD player that fits the following criteria?

* About 5-600 quid street price
* Must be multi-region (hackable or chipped)
* Component, RGB scart and s-video outputs
* DVD-A and/or SACD would be nice but not compulsory
* Manufacturer not important (but the rest of my gear is Pioneer)

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Pioneer 656 or the new, cheaper version maybe (565)?

The 656 is a good player, and the new one could be just as good, and it's cheaper.

Gary.

Gary,

Do you know if the 565 replaces the 656 or is there a 666 planned!?

Jus.

Does the 757Ai do progressive PAL yet? I know an upgrade is planned for existing players, but presumably they'll start shipping them like that too?

I believe that will be the case sometime soon.

Should be a great machine, and is probably one of the few high end players that doesn't have issues.

Gary
