Hi,
My 5 year old Mordaunt Short Alumni 9 sub started "buzzing", completely out of the blue last weekend.
It does it whenever it is powered up even with no input applied, or anything connected to it.
Coming to the conclusion that it's probably had it, I'm looking for a replacement.
My receiver is a Yamaha RX-V1067 and the rest of the speakers are the other Alumni models from the package.
So far I've been looking at a Yamaha NS-SW300 or a Q Acoustics 2070 to replace the sub.
I've also been wondering whether I might be better served not having a sub and replacing the front speakers with a pair of floorstanders.
The floorstanders I've been looking at are Mission MX3 or Tannoy Mercury V4i.
The budget is around £250. Does anybody have any comments or suggestions?
Edit - should have added that the primary usage is movies, very rarely do I play music.
