Hi, my KEF PSW 2500 has given up the ghost, power light on but no sound coming out.

Does anyone know if (1) it's a common fault, (2) it's wasily repairable?

If not, can someone tell me when I find details of local Kef repairers?

    Thanks guys.

contact Kef's technical support, I'm contacting them all the time about varous issues relating to work and there very imformative and helpful. There not like most company's who want s/n or Date of purchase before they will speak to you. They can also give a quote for repair.

It's a known issue with KEF subs from that era. If I recall correctly I believe it is due a to shorted fuse, which they should happily replace.

in response to the shorted fuse. A good fuse is always shorted or a nc item "normally closed" thus completing a curcuit. An open fuse is a burned out one. Right?

Mine needed a new amp board and driver unit. Kef replaced both for around £100.

Hello guys, sorry for offtopic. I am looking for a reliable KEF service, my PSW2500 sub started making popping sound and died yesterday. The quote I received from KEF Tech support is £118! Please advise where to go in Bristol.

    Your are not alone!

KEF has obviously decided that they make far more profit from making sab-standard subwoofers (with a built in auto-destruct timer) than building quality products.

A bit like bankers selling crappy products to ensure their managers get fat bonuses.

KEF was once a great name in British audio. :uk:

    Breaks yer art, dunnit? :suicide:

    Hi,

My PSW2000 has just gone pop also, searched Frank1410 who doesn't appear to be a user here, did you manage to get your sub fixed? If so how much did it cost and can you forward contact details for Frank onto me?

Hello mate, my PSW2500 is still being worked on.. but I was assured that it won't cost more than KEF's fixed price for it (£120) so we'll see. You can find Frank here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/subw...sw-2010-subwoofer-faulty-20.html#post12629880
    Good Luck:thumbsup:
