    Hi all.

The above statement may not be new to you all but having just switched from Blockbuster due to them not sending me HD discs that have been out for a while now (Superman Returns, Harry Potter OOTP, Batman Begins etc). Preferring instead to send me the odd SD disc on my list of preferences.

I thought I'd try Tesco as I shop online with them and they sent me my first disc the next day (Harry Potter OOTP) Dead centre of the disc is the Lovefilm logo!! Now why are Tesco able to send me these films FOR LESS MONEY than if I joined Lovefilm?? £8.97 a month with Tesco. £9.99 with Lovefilm itself!

They bulk buy rentals from LoveFilm and are so able to get a significant discount. Lovefilm is happy to do so as they get an increased customer base without any additional advertisement on their part.

I have been with Tesco's rental for about a month, and i've yet to see a single hd-dvd.
Despite making nearly all the hd-dvd choices high priority.

FWIW I only recently noticed Amazon rent HD-DVDs and put a load to the top of my list and they seem to be coming through fine.

Why would that influence you when I had the exact opposite experience?? My list is all HD and I got one instantly.

Blockbuster were very poor and the only HD disc I was sent was The Reaping. Everything else didn't ever come. Even going down to my 23rd choice on one occasion for an SD film:mad:

Because I have heard this all over a lot of forums - that you rarely get new releases at the top of your list.

I was only vaguely considering joining to try it out. But the mention of this experience is more than enough to put me off signing up to anything with a Tesco logo involved.

Even if I had read about your experience first, I doubt I would have been convinced to sign up.

I'm with CD-Wow rentals that also use Lovefilm. I an constantly getting more HD-DVD's to a ratio of about 15/1 in the HD's favour

I also get the new releases withing a couple of weeks of them being released so long as you pre-order them when they 1st appear on the site :smashin:

I did read that, but the main content of the post was about Lovefilm logo on Tescos rentals. So kind of blanked the rest.

Can't fault Tesco been with them for about 10 months, had over 60 films and usually get my preferred choices including over 20 HD DVD's in that lot.

Only joined them because my local DVD rental store closed, and couldn't be happier with them.

Me too (I had 5 HDs off Lovefilm last week)
I also dip into Amazon for the odd title that lovefilm don't seem to get their hands on (Capricorn 1, The Eagle Has Landed)

You should have used the 3 month trial

I've had over 50 HD DVD rentals in the last year from Lovefilm. They have always been pretty quick.
It's a good idea to use the lists feature to make a HD list, a SD list and.. if you have them, a games list. Then, if you 3 rentals at a time, you can assign one rental slot to each format.. or I have two slots for HD DVDs and one for games.
Then you can have high priority within each type.

We joined easycinema.com which is £2 per disk, up to three discs at any time. Works better for us since it's not subscription based.

The dvds come from lovefilm too ;)

So far so good, except they decided to ship the extras for Transformers HD-DVD before shipping the movie itself !!!
Note: Dual disc releases are shipped as separate discs, and, charges accordingly (e.g. £4 for the feature + extras).

I've used Tesco for several months now and have been very impressed with them. If I post a disc back today I'll get one through my letter box in two days time - every time. I get Blu-Rays and HD DVDs without a problem. I'd recommend them.
