Render from Vegas Pro 11 lower quality than Premiere Pro CS5

Hey there, folks

Got a question for you - why is output from Sony Vegas Pro 11 lower quality than Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, despite all settings apparently being the same?

Look at these two images:

Image 1 is output from Vegas, image 2 is output of the same scene from Premiere.

Both use ~2mb/s VBR 2-pass Mainconcept AVC/AAC at 30fps. I cannot see any difference at all in the render settings.

Is there something I missed in Vegas' "Render As" window? (Vegas is the software here I am new to - I've been using Premiere for quite a while).

Also, why is Vegas' output darker or higher contrast?

Thanks,
frogbrains
