Could anyone be so kind and tell me how I remove the music in the "Recently Added" folder without removing the music completly from itunes?
The reason I ask is because I wish to copy several CD's into iTunes and then transfer them to my iPod from that folder but I have hundreds of music in "Recently Added" already and don't wish to copy the remaining music twice.

Songs aren't added more than once on iPods, it just shows in whatever playlists it appears in.

If you want, you can delete the 'recently added' playlist from the sidebar by just pressing delete on your keyboard. Your songs shouldn't be deleted.

Removing items from playlists, or deleting the playlists themselves, does not remove the items from the iTunes Library or the iPod. Playlists are just pointers to the original music files.

Thank you for your reply, is there a way of deleting the music from the "Recently Added" playlist without those songs being deleted from the main "Music" folder?

I thought that is what should happen but when I deleted the music in the the "Recently Added" playlist/folder, the music also deleted entirely from iTunes and I have needed to copy all from the CD's again. I tried it twice and it came up with the message "Are you sure you want to remove the selected songs from your iTunes Library"

Click 'No' and it should delete it from the Playlist, but not from the library/PC

Are you deleting the playlist or the songs individually within the playlist?

I wish to delete the songs from the playlist, not the playlist itself.
If the songs are deleted from the "Recently Added" playlist it removes the song entirely from iTunes/PC

The options that come up are "Remove" or "Cancel"

Is it a smart playlist or regular playlist?, if you set up a smart playlist you can set it so it only shows you certain songs so it updates itself

Yes, it's a smary playlist that's time based, shortening the time span may well do the trick.

Alternatively, remember the albums you've ripped and simply transfer those!

Excellent, thank you, I've been into edit smart list, this will help considerably.
I still think it's a tad strange that if you delete the music from the 'recently added' smart list it removes totally from iTunes and from the PC
    Once again, thank you:thumbsup:
