Arcam Delta 290 and 290P pre and power amplifiers.

My dad wants to get one of those mains switches which you use an infrared remote to switch things on connected to it.

The question is, will it be safe to turn on the above equipment with this method? Or will it be harmful in some way? They have relays which click about 5 seconds after power-up that activate speakers (like most modern amplifiers I guess).

    Thanks for any help
