Do any of you know of any remote control software that can be downloaded to a laptop to allow it to function as a remote?

I'm just wondering really... After reading this thread here, I'm toying with the idea of applying the hack to my NS700 but I'm reluctant to purchase a learning remote specifically for that purpose, and resent having to pay £40 to "hire" a one off remote if I can help it. I was wondering if it would be possible to utilise the IR port on my laptop to control devices (and programme "special" codes) with the aid of some software?

    Does such a thing exist?!

Guess I'll need to go down the PDA/Remote hire route then! ;)

You can't beat a Gyration mouse for HTPC control, much better than using a pronto/pda etc, being RF based you don't need to worry about pointing it in the right direction etc. Very cool.

    In a word... No ;)

I was just curious as to whether or not I could use the laptop as a cheap way of making my player MR, but if there's no way that I can use it to transmit the code I want to, then I guess that's that :) I'm not after a permanent remote solution by any means... Just a one off!

    Never mind :)
