In theory yes but in practice I would say no.

You would need to know what type of modulation it is using and potentially what channel it is operating on so that you could get a correct third party controller. I doubt any of that information is recorded on the car or its documentation.

You could contact the manufacturer but as this looks like a chinese generic I doubt you will get much joy - they are geared up to shift boxes not provide spares support.

Besides, whether you went third party or manufacturer I can't imagine that you would find a solution that was cheaper than buying a new car (I appreciate that you have listed US ToysRUs so it might not be straightforward to replace in the UK)

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Thanks a lot Nigel. Very helpful.

I thought it might not be easy to do. My son likes that car, but it looks like it has been discontinued in the UK anyway (can't find it anywhere).

I just bought him RC car yesterday and he loves it.

The thing is he was scared of them before (he was too little and was scared of the noise they make), but now he is older he loves them. This one was with us for long time, but because he was scared I've hidden remote control for it and just let him play with it without it. In the meantime my wife threw it away thinking it is not needed anymore.

Now that I can see he is not scared of them and really likes to play with them, I was trying to find remote for the old one, but it appears she threw it away.

Anyway, the one I bought him yesterday is not really suitable to play in the garden (mostly grass). So maybe I'll just buy him a cheap off road RC car instead to play in the garden. If you know anything about RC car would you be so kind and have a look at this one. Is it any good or just a waste of money?

PS I don't really want to spend too much, the one I bought him yesterday was £50.

This one looks better than the other one you linked. Modelsport are a reptuable company who will help if there is a problem. That looks quite nice for a young child, nit too fast but with big wheel so should work well on grass.

I have an old Tamiya 'Fighter Buggy' which I should get round to selling - but that would be way too fast for him.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

It probably will. The one I bought him is already quite fast.

I'll have a look around for a second hand ones too.

    Thank you Nigel. Very helpful.
