Hi guys, could someone please give me some advice on the following.
My mortgage is currently with Barclays. It expires 30/09/20. My house is worth £685,000. I have £214,000 remaining over 23 years. So my LTV is 31%.
I spoke with Barclays who said if I move from them to another lender, I'd be charged £80 exit fee. If I were to stay with Barclays on a new deal, would I be charged another fee or would they waive the fee due to me being an existing customer?
Also, when doing the comparison sites, is it best to filter by TOTAL paid at the end of the 5 years deal / Initial Term Costl? I don't mind paying fees up front if it gets me a better deal overall, or vice versa.
I'm currently looking around for a better deal and am considering whether I should remain on fixed or move to variable.
The best deals seem to be with Santander (1.44 + £649 fee) and TSB (1.09 + £995 fee).
Any hints and tips welcome please.
