Does anyone remember Mastertronic? £1.99 a game, from the local newsagent. A new game every week those were the days MMmmm.

But I still think that most retro games are rubbish

yeah ofcourse! I used to skip lunch at school and walk it to
school rather than bus it... so I had enough money for those
games. In them days(early 80's) £1.99 was a LOT of money.
    A portion of chips used to be 20p, they're now £1 !

I remember me and my mates taking ages to decide which
game to buy in the local newsagent ...and then
newsagent thinking we were shop lifting.. (we did some of
that too) ;) :p the penny sweets used to help us decide which
    game to buy!

Er, I need that as well.

So what was your fav game then.

I really liked it when the £9.99 became budget titles it was almost pant-wettingly good.

Did you have a Spectrum or C64? As my parents thought they knew about computers they brought me an Amstrad CPC464 with GREEN FRIGGING SCREEN. When I wanted a C64 but the wouldn't let me have a portable TV. Come to think of it I never had a Scaletrix either. I am going to have a word with them! Thanks for reminding me Strom

that's terrible man, u're parents didnt let u have what u wanted
in life? and forced u to have an amstrad? damn .. u must be
    scarred for life!
My parents let me have any compter as long as I saved and paid
for a certain share of it... be it £20 to £50.
i've had quite a few bits and pieces... vic 20, c64, bbc micro,
but the BEST of all was the Commodore Amiga... everyone one knew
it was much better than the Atari ST except musicians. ;)
Kind of reminds me of the lame xbox Vs ps2 Vs gameboy war.

I can't remember what games i used to get on the mastertronic
label as most of them were crap. ask me abt amiga games and
    this thread will never stop!
but have a peep at this :

Well I did have an Amiga as well, which I paid for myself!!

There was some great games on the Amiga.

Sensible Soccer - Still the most playable footie game ever
    Lemmings
    Jimmy White's Cueball
    Cannon Fodder.

The list could go on and on.

Apart from the amiga gfx\sound demo's which i still watch...
i still have a few sound mod files to listen to on my PC.
    I loved the games
Dungeon Master, Xenon 2, Speedball 1 & 2, Ghouls and Ghosts,
Shadow of the Beast, Agony, SWIV and there's
    so many others...

..actually ..that's probably why I didn't so so well in my GCSE's!
    I blame my Amiga!
