Anyone have any news about the release date of the Toshiba 510?
I know the Toshiba 510E will support SVCD! Not sure about the Pioneer 646A. Various websites have stated it does, but the spec sheet in the brochure does not mention it!
If you want more info on the Toshiba 510E, Toshiba Germany has details. www.toshiba.de
Release in Germany pushed back to November:
http://www.area-dvd.de/news/2001/200109/1909200101.shtml
Supports PS for NTSC, MP3, S-VCD, HDCD and RGB, cost appr. DEM1199.
Thanks Reiner. The Toshiba looks pretty cheap at £400 compared to the Pioneer. I'll just have to wait for the reviews I suppose
I am tempted to wait.. But I can't help being concerned about RCE on the Toshiba's.
Whilst RCE seemed to be a bit of a flash in the pan, I did read that the big movie companies are still pushing to find a way to stop imports.
If the Tosh's can't even to RCE properly, what about something in the future?
Atleast I assume that they still don't handle RCE like a lot of other players!
It was originally September. I now hear its October. I'm not sure on the price yet, but with any luck it should be under £500. I'm also looking at this player, i'm also considering the Pioneer 646A.
Me too.. I want the Toshiba.. But not sure about RCE.
I have always wanted a Pioneer.. But they offer such poor FF/Rewind speed.
Plus I need SVCD support and I don't know if any of these do this.
I hear that the Tosh 210 does, so I am hopeful that the 510 will too.
But then again, the Pioneer 535 did, and the 636/737 didn't..
