I'm looking to buy a sub to complement my home cinema set up. I have a budget of £350-£400. I have read good reviews on both the Quake and ASW600 but would apreciate any suggestions/feed back that anyone may have. I would like the sub to be able to perform well both musically and to enhance the home cinema experiance during movie playback.
    My current set up is:-

    Sony DVP-NS900V SACD/DVD Player
    Denon AVR 3802 AV Receiver
    B&W LCR60 S3 centre (bi-wired with VDH Teatrack)
    B&W DM602 S3 Front L+R (bi-wired with VDH Teatrack)
    Mission M7C1 rear centre
    Mission M7DS Rear Surrounds

Is the quake really that puny? I have heard nothing but praise for it's performance even though it is relatively small. I have a fairly small lounge so space is at a premium.

    Thanks for your input

I demo'd the REL and have heard the B+W in isolation, and was not overly impressed, especially when I heard the following..

I'd second the CHT-10... it is worth a demo...

If you want a better looks, then the Mission M5AS is also worth an audition, HCC and WHF gave it 5 stars, and its available for £375-400 everywhere... and is very musical to boot.. (read the reviews)..

The B+W has the build quality, etc but I am not sure that you are paying a little over the odds for the name... especially with such good competition out there..

I heard at the Manxhester Show a few months ago and was distinctly underwhelmed.

I will be at the Bristol show next weekend and will no doubt have another listen (having first removed my name badge).

Aldershot to Bristol isn't that far and you should try and go next weekend as you will be able to hear all of the subwoofers on what should be your short list in action.

It's depression. I have just watched Crystal Palace trying to beat both Leeds and the referee.

Ditto to that - save yourself £100 over the Quake and get something alot better. If you are prepared to spend £300-£400 then the CHT-10 really does sound like your best bet, not that the ASW600 is a bad sub at all (demo'd one when I bought my 600s and was impressed - looks pretty neat in Sorento too).
