The connection for hi-levl on the rel is one single lead intended to use with one single amp. My problem,is that I use two amps both stereo one each to left and right speakers.queston.Do I need to run leads from both amps to the sub or is it ok to just take the lead from one amp to the sub? I asked a chap at Rel and he said that it was ok but it seems wrong to me.Any help appreciated

How are you using 2 Stereo amps to just run one channel each???

Normally if you're running 2 amps you would normally run the LF from one and the HF from the other. In this case it would work connecting the high level to either amp but the one running the LF would be best because then the sub sees exactly the same signal as the LF drivers on your speakers.

Hello noodle,Thanks for your reply. I am using the two mark levinson 29 amps as if they were mono.the lf signal is connected directley from my lexicon pre-amp to the sub.the hf is connected from the left speaker binding posts on the left amp to the sub.Do you think this is ok. Thanks once again Best wishes.Alwyn
ps. The reason I bi-amp is to get the best from the kef ref.4 speakers

Fair enough, although if you've got them bridged then they are no longer 'stereo' amps.
I would say that you need to have both L & R connected to the sub. Does the HF cable only have 2 wires?

Hi noodles, the problem is the connector on the sub.It is an xlr type of plug and it is a sealed unit .As to the amps, they are not bridged they are mearly used as a one channel amp with twin leads out of the pre-amp this way each amp just uses one channel to drive one speaker, bi-amping. thanks, alwyn

    Glad you've got it sorted.

I still think you're wasting half of each amp though. You really should be using one for the treble and one for the bass. This is true bi-amping.

Your speakers would need to be bi-wirable though.

That is what I am doing now, each amp supplies both base and treble to each speaker, and kef reference 4 speakers are bi-wirable, if ever your in Cornwall you will have to come and listen to them Best wishes alwyn
