I've just had to send back my Q150E for the 2nd time in a month due to the 'humming' problems this model developed. I thought the problems would go away with the new back-plate but this was not the case.

Anyway, I have now had a refund and am once more looking for a subwoofer, I liked the REL Q150E very much so I was wondering how the Q100E and the Q50 compared and if anyone had noticed this 'humming' on these models aswell.

My budget is around £500 so if there are any other makes worth looking at I would be interested in everyone's recommendations.

    Thanx!

    mustang. :)

Well, there are members here that rate the 100 incredibly highly indeed. If you can get one, then do so. The Q50 is also a good sub, I have the Q Bass which can do the business very well. The Q50 is a more powerful version. My plan is to get a 2nd Q Bass. You could always go for two Q50's. There are a lot of posts on using two quality subs rather than one. Many benefits to be had.

    Questions.

    How big is your room?
What other speakers do you have?
Any special requirements for the sub, ie, connections?

If you like the Q150, you will love the Q200.

It might be slightly over your budget, but its worth it!

Thanx for the reply's, my room is roughly 15ft x 11ft, my set-up is as follows :-

    Fronts - Mission M72's
    Centre - Mission M7c1
    Rears - Mission M7d's

My hi-fi speakers are the KEF Q35's and i tried these out the other day for fronts and they were very impressive, only trouble is if i use these it means i need to replace the other speakers with more KEF's.

While using the Q150E i had it connected using a single Ixos subwoofer cable.

    CYA!

If you go the KEF route you ought to buy a matching centre but you could probably get away with keeping your Mission rears as front to rear matching is not so important.

I use the same rears but have never owned Mission front speakers.

The loudness of the subwoofer is not as important as it's overall ability and I agree with the selection that uncle made above.

Still deciding over which SUB to buy, have just been reading up on the MJ Acoustics Pro 50 and was surprised by the reviews it received as it seems quite small. I was also looking at the REL Q50, i would think that the REL is better than the Pro 50, anyone agree?

Also as i was used to the REL Q150E before do you think that the REL Q50 would seem dissapointing in comparison?

    Thanks for your help :),

Absolutely not. In fact IMO the Q50 is a better sub.
As a matter of interest, Hi Fi Confidential are still advertising Q50's at 399 pounds.
