According to provided instruction mannual,my sub can be left switched on when not in use. When i do so the speaker emits a hum which doesnot completely dissapear even with the main volume on the sub turned down.

Is this normal? I am using a Technics pre/power combination with the supplied Rel connector. The amp is stereo only used for driving fronts and sub only. Any ideas?

This question has been asked several times before. The most common solution is that you have an earth loop. The amp is connected to a different mains socket to your sub. Try connecting them to the same socket - and everything else connected up to the amp aswell.
