I have a strange problem with my Denon/REL setup, when using my turntable (a cheap AP-MX570 AKAI number!) plugged into the Phono In on the back of my Denon 1803. Selected Direct Stereo mode just to use my Mission M73 floorstanders. I also have a REL Quake, using both Hi & Lo level connections. When playing a record, I can only have the volume at +16 (i.e less than halfway), any louder and my REL pulses contantly drowning out the music, as if its feeding back, or getting too much signal. Any idea as to what is going on? - The speaker settings are set to small (all), Sub=yes, Speaker & sub levels in direct mode are all 0. The phono always seems quiet - I have to have the volume set much higher than if I was listening to a CD for example, so at +16 the music is just average volume. n.b On all other instances the setup works perfectly even at silly volumes.
