I recently took delivery of the Italian Job, Region 1 NTSC and my "chipped multi region" Pioneer 444 wont play it, claiming it to be from the wrong region. My other region 1 NTSC discs plays fine.Have the manufacturers introduced new codes to screw us up and is there any way of updating my machine to deals with these discs. The DVD did however play on my sons £50 Tesco player!!!!

    Thanks

    Alistair

The Italian Job may well be an RCE disc Regional Coding Enhancement. so some multi region players wont play them, i could be wrong though

If it's the 2003 remake your refering to, it's definately not a RCE title.

Well I've kinda solve the problem. I manually changed the machine to read a region 1 disc and evrything seems to be working. Even the other regions are still playing fine. Maybe the auto switched had got itself confused

    Thanks
