I have an lg GCC-4120B combo drive which is now fixed on region 1. I have tried using the rpcman program but it doesn't work for me. The program box pops up but all the buttons are blanked out except close and I cannot change the numbers in the user count and vendor count boxes. Help please.

hi, check your aspi layer or lack of it if your running XP. You'll need this for the rpcman s/w to work. I'm using v4.60 taken from http://www.rufi.ch/download/winaspi/winaspi.html although you'll find v4..60 and later versions together with more info on why aspi is needed posted all over the place with a search in google.

A aspi layer allows software to directly control the CD/DVD drive. you'll find many rippers or burners need this to work to their best.

    good luck,

    cheers, Phil

    Success !!
Thanks again Phil, I ended up using Forceaspi17. Incidentally ( for anyone else with this problem ), it still only worked ( rpcman that is ) when i used it in windows 98/me compatability mode.

Also if you are using XP, rpcman is known to have problems running under XP. I had a similar problem, I changed aspi to forceaspi (adaptec version 4.6 hacked) and run rpcman in compatibility mode (right click on file in explorer).
    This normally solves these problems.
