    Tim, sounds like you're very new <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

R9 does not exist. The All Regions code is actually R0.

Why don't all R2 Users change to R0? Well:

    1) Most DVD Players require a hack, or secret menu, or even hardware (chip) change to function this way.

    2) Some DVDs can do not play on a R0 Machine.

If you change to region 9 (all regions) do you loose any quality or benefits? If not, does it make any difference to the player. Finally, why don't owners of r2 dvd's all change to r9. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but i'm new to this game.

I recall reading elsewhere that some DVD players' region "hacks" DO involve selecting "9" as the region. I know "9" isn't a "valid" region, but I gather that this is how some manufacturers enable multiregion on their players.
