Region 4 is basically Australia etc and since DVD's over there are good prices at the moment. Here's a question..

All the region 4 discs I have seen are region 2 & 4 (ie X-files and others)

but I have also seen other box sets at 17UKP that are 50UKP here marked as region 4 on AUS sites.

Are these discs *just* region 4 or are they just saying they are region 4 since it is in AUS but they are really 4 & 2.

Stuff like old Stingray, Fireball XL5 and other old Anderson stuff.

Any ideas, views etc or at that price is it worth a gamble???

Many (but by no means all) R4 items are dual coded. You can't rely on retailer's websites who typically only tell you what's on the packaging.

If the title you are interested in is reviewed on

    www.michaeldvd.com.au

then they are usually accurate on their region coding data.

However, more to the point, why don't you go multiregion on your player, and then you'll be able to take advantage of reduced costs elsewhere in the world without taking "a gamble" ? Depending on your player this may be a handset modification (look on www.dvdrhelp.com ) or another technique required. In which case, once good source of cheap and effective mods is http://www.dvdchips.co.uk

Yes, I came to the same conclusion, don't believe a lot of what a web site says.

My player is a old Toshiba that needs to be chipped, probally just as cheap to buy a new one already done.

PS.. LV426 - Isn't this the original planet in Alien!!!
