Not sure if this is a common problem or not but I have several region 3 discs that are clearly sold and labelled as widescreen editions that when I play em back on my Denon 2910 and Infocus 4805 pj show up as 4:3 aspect ratio:thumbsdow . I always go in and change the display setting from native to widescreen and I think I then get an actual w/s image rather than stretched 4:3. Anyone else come across this? Could not find anything via search. Had it on Batman Begins and the second and third Matrix sets.

Where did you get the discs from? as I have never had a problem with any of my R3 releases, if they have been listed as widescreen then that is what they have been.

All my region 3 will come from CD Wow. The listing, the case and the disc itself all show as widescreen. I dont notice the image as stretched when I change to widescreen (it definitely does not display more information though). Not sure if it is all my Region 3, will have to check, but I noticed it again this w/e as I watched the Matrix trilogy.

Do you mean your projector is just not autoswitching with ntsc discs?

I have to switch mine over myself - I had the R3 Matrix 3 (2 disc) from cdwow and it was 2.35 Anamorphic

I've just got some region 3 ntsc discs from cd wow today. Will do a quick check and let you know what happens.

Edit: Just checked Batman Begins, Wallace and Gromit and Harry Potter - Goblet of Fire. All region 3, all displayed correctly and projector reporting ntsc 60hz. Is your dvd player set up for ntsc ok ?

Thanks both, I'll check the NTSC settings on both. Never noticed it on Region 1 though which is weird. Popped the discs in my other dvd connected to a tv and they come up w/s fine so must be something in the setup.

Toggling the NTSC/PAL option on the dvd resolved it. Thought it would do this automatically but obviously not. Thanks all:thumbsup:
