Before I go order a Region 3 DVD because of the DTS 96/24 soundtrack....what can I expect....foreign menus, dubbed sound etc with foreign language?

    Phantom of the Opera ?

In general - most R3 titles that are Hollywood movies have English menus, English language tracks etc.

I've not had one title that's dubbed or altered in any way. Obviously Asian movies on R3 will be in the native language - but you need not worry about Hollywood stuff. The only exception as such, was an edition of Sky Captain which only had a stereo soundtrack (but was soon released with a DTS-ES mix).

    Yep..LOL...good guess.

I have just read the review, seen this a number of time at the theatre and enjoyed the movie. Just got a multi region player for the first time after my 6 year old play conked out a week or two ago...might as well make the most of it!!!

Do any of the extra features on R3 releases have foreign language tracks or are the hollywood R3 releases all in English throughout the dvd package?.

Of all the R3 disks I own & the extras I've watched on them - they've been in English. In fact, last night I watched R3 Seed of Chucky and the extras on that were in English (even J.Tilly's Diary which is just a set of menu screens).

I did note someone mentioned that the copy of National Treasure R3 wasn't a particularly good PQ - but I've not spun my R2 to see what the PQ is like.

A general guide for R3 DVD's is that if they're major studio releases - such as Paramount, Fox, Warner, Columbia, etc. - then they are usually pretty much identical to R1, R2 versions in terms of quality & extras.

If they're some local label then the quality can be very variable and it's best to try and find a review of the disc before buying.

After saying the above about major releases and reading Sadmuppet's above post, I'm now a little worried about my R3 National Treasure that has just this minute dropped through the letterbox!

I'm going to try it out on the projector tonight, after the return of the Daleks of course. :D

Yep, the major hollywood releases have been fine. However, asian films (such as Hero, HoFD etc.) will not have extras in english.

Thanks....any chance of some feedback when you get it?? Looking forward to the DTS96/24 soundtrack but hopefully not at the expense of the picture quality!

US Theatrical version for sure - but damn entertaining. I'll get the R1 when it's out though.

As for the Phantom boxset - mine was shipped yesterday so it should arrive on Tuesday!!

Only one I know of is the Queen Live DVD (On Fire or something). There's probably more than that, but it's the only one I know of!

Peter Gabriel is a maybe...kind of a shame there is no Queen live in 96/24. I would have been tempted by that.
