Nice review, sounds like you are a huge fan like me.
It is one of the few films I can re-watch regularly.
That goes for the extras as well.

But only 7 on the extras?!
I am guessing it has the same extras as the original release.

Like you say the commentary is one of the best on DVD. The Terror takes Shape documentary is also one the best.
    Surely worthy of a 9?!

Think I'll stick with my original copy. Too many other DVD's coming out

Massive fan of the film here too - quite disappointed in the video quality of the new collectors edition though, yes it's great to have an anamorphic picture at last but it's quite bad quality

Big fan of the movie. Quite what happened to John Carpenter I am not so sure. I do like Big Trouble in Little China almost as much as the Thing, though...

The 7/10 for the extras was becasue there is only two of them worth watching. 7/10 is still good, mind.

Well, the comentary mentions something about the dog being half wolf and that the wolf half was dominant. Hence I gave the dog a wolf reference.

Shame it's not a video commentary.
