I got a couple of Region 0 DVDs from Asia ,on holiday last year,...ie they are Region Free..

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (DD5.1)
& Swordfish (DTS)

how the eff can I tell if they are pirated? Picture quality is DVD standard and sound is as advertised (ie DD5.1 or DTS) ...front cover also looks 'normal' ..no problems while playing back the discs!

anyone else have any Region 0 DVDs ?

Dont have any personally but there are certainly many legit Region zero DVDs - several from Criterion (including Robocop for definite), reference/education disks and porn.

Yeah, there are legit R0 titles - I've got the Tartan ProgScan version of Battle Royale, which is R0. I'd be surprised if the two titles you listed are legitimately R0 though.

Should have a UPC/barcode some where if they are legit.
Normally, Western films released in the Asian market WILL be region coded (R3)
I've just bought the HK release of 'We Were Soldiers'; that's coded R3. They don't seem to bother with regional coding for actual Hong Kong films though - I probably have 50/60 HK films; they're all legitimate official releases, but none of them are region-coded.
I'd put money on the fact that your 'Swordfish' is a pirate.
The quality will be excellent as they can just do a 'rip' of the R1.
