Hi, I have an 80s Rega Planar 2 and it has developed a hum. After taking a look one of the tonearm wires to the cartridge has become disconnected from the connector spade. I’m struggling to find anywhere that is open for repairs as I’m in Berkshire and tier 4 restrictions have been in place. Would anyone advise trying to repair this myself bearing in mind I have no soldering experience? Or do I need to replace the tonearm (pricey)?

Hi,

Best course of action in my opinion would be to contact Rega support as they could probably give you an estimated cost of repair. If you haven't got the original packaging then perhaps they could send you the appropriate box as sending something like a turntable in the post without good packaging is a No, No. If you have no experience of soldering then best leave it alone. Good luck.

Yeah, I’ve contacted my local Rega repair place to see what they can do

Did you get sorted with this ? If not I could solder it for you, just send the arm ?
