I have a Technics SL1210M5G turntable with a Grado Prestige Gold cartridge and a Shure M97XE also. I would like to improve the sound . I have the on board Arcam phono stage on my preamp ( C31 ). I tried couple of external phono amps from NAD and Rega, and did not see any improvement. Rather than spending price of the turntable on a phono amp or cartridge, ( and I do not want to use MC cartridges ) if I was to switch to a Rega P3 with it's very well regarded arm, will I hear any improvement ? Or do I need to go higher ?

I have recently fitted the Timestep psu from sound hifi ' and quite simply it is monumental upgrade the deck has literally come to life, it does take a couple of weeks to run in properly but if you want to hear what the techy can really do i thoroughly recommend doing this upgrade.
