Am just posting this for a mate who hasnt got the net.
He tells me that when he swtiches his xbox on, the light on the front that usually flashes green is flashing red and his getting no dashboard on his tv. He was orignally told it needed cleaning but he tried that and its not working. Can anyone help and give a solution please.
    Cheers

A few years ago I was getting problems with my X-box. Problems with reading discs and such like. Kept getting an orange light (instead of green)

I contacted Microsoft and they arranged for free return to base and repair at the time :) (Best customer service i'd ever experienced at that time)

Reason for the fault was to do with overheating I believe....faulty drive or something like that.

    Sorry can't remember any more!

Is the AV connector properly plugged in?

Sorry if it sounds patronising, but they can get knocked loose.
Although I seem to remember this actually causes a Red / Green flash.

Thanks for that ill tell him.
The xbox hasnt been modified or anything and you dont sound patronising, those things can be a pain and my digitial out slips out on the odd occasion (how painful does that sound :rotfl: ).
But thanks again and we'll see what happens.

Does it give any error screen on the TV. There is a whole host of error codes that can be generated by the xbox (green number at top right of the error screen), each having its own meaning.
